Thinking of moving to Georgia and want to know the best places to live in Atlanta? Located in north Fulton County, the city of Alpharetta, GA is just 22 miles north of Atlanta with a population around 65,000 people. It’s a really charming city with award-winning parks, excellent schools, loads of family-friendly events and unique shopping destinations. 

So, Let’s take a closer look at 5 reasons why this city is easy to fall for.

Reason #1: Alpharetta is family friendly.

Whether you love sports, gardening, concerts, or hiking and biking, there’s something for everyone in Alpharetta. Ranked # 1 on Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s 25 Best Places to move and #1 Best place to raise a family by Niche.com, the city of Alpharetta, GA practically has a park on every corner. Its largest park – Wills Park is just a short walk from Alpharetta’s city center and has it all –  baseball fields, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a frisbee golf course, 3 playgrounds, a community garden, a dog park and even a 50- acre equestrian center which hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Multiple golf courses and nearly 15 miles of hiking and biking trails along the Greenway and AlphaLoop also make it easy for families to make fun a priority. The Ameris Bank Amphitheater, and outdoor venue, features concerts year-round by world-famous musicians.

Avalon, Downtown Alpharetta and Halcyon.  Avalon is an 86-acre community and includes upscale shopping, dining, a movie theater, single-family residences, luxury rental homes, office space, even a conference center and hotel.  My husband and I love to get away at the hotel for a weekend without the kids!  Another family favorite is the outdoor ice skating rink in the center of the community during the winter months. During the warmer months, exercise classes, concerts and kids events fill the green space.

In downtown Alpharetta you can gather for a meal, play or relax in the large greenspace, run through the water fountains or take a walk in the Brook Street Park Arboretum behind City Hall.

Halcyon, the newest of the three multi-use communities in Alpharetta is a 135-acre development with shops, restaurants, loft offices, hotel rooms and residences to lease or buy.  You also have easy access to the Big Creek Greenway, a beautiful 12 foot wide wooded concrete path, which makes time with friends, biking, walking or jogging just steps away. The green space of Halcyon is super fun to hang with family and friends. They even have a team corn hole league!
